Karin, thank you for your appreciative words. John, I also need to thank you (truly apologise for not having done it earlier) for such a lovely post which sets our imagination whirring at high speed.
The piece about the new generation (does it matter? It just works and we use it) reminds me of something I had read a long while ago. A son tell his father " Our generation has all the technology. We have the best audio visual systems, the best multi functional cell phones, fast computers, the internet, sleekest cars, the fastest supersonic jets. Our generation has everything to make life easier with comforts and luxuries. Dad, what has your generation done?"
Dad quipped " We spent the best years of our lives developing all these comforts and luxuries so your generation could enjoy them. Now the question is - what are you doing for the coming generation?" Well, this is just in a light vein. The Great Puppeteer will surely devise ways to make all coming generations "understand" as he did with ours and countless generations before us. I visualise not just a ray but bright sun beams of Hope for the next hundred years. May we all be there to enjoy a good part of it all.

I whole heartedly agree with this previous post! It was a pleasure to read such a well written, and articualate comment! The awe and spendour of all of that which we currently see, the viewing of it, the feeling of it, and speaking of it, will be magnified and we will once again be in the intense wonder of "what next?"
I have three adult children, and enjoy listening to them as they see the world currently and as they see the world in it's coming in there minds and eye.
When listening to their thoughts, opinins and ideas, of the present and future (as they also sit and "text" message a friend typing a mile a minute on this miniture cell phone) I find myself, wondering if they know just how great of a time they were born into, and if they have the same wonder as I do as to how these phones work, or how electicity works. I have asked them this question, and their answer is, "does it matter? it just works and we use it!"
Kind of reminds of the part in the movie "the secret" Proctor speaks on electricity, and how no one really knows "how" it works, it just does...
I enjoyed reading your last 2 sentences and hope for the same!

"To my mind the icing, utopian as it appears, would be if humankind is able to rid itself of hate, envy, anger and like negativities and rise towards peace and harmony for all."
A beautiful thought of hope.

One point I am convinced about from Karin Hiebert's post is that the next 20 years will certainly be of awe and splendour. Everything else could be pure conjecture. We are in for some awesome and mind scrambling surprises with advancements in all spheres of life. The last century saw leaps in technology. The coming century (more so the next 20 years) may unveil formidable advances in metaphysics, parapsychology, even spirituality and the cummulative effect may lead to the absolute awe and splendour we speak of. Let's wait and watch for unfolding marvels with anticipation and bated breath. Hopefully we are about to witness the most phenomenal period of this planet's history. To my mind the icing, utopian as it appears, would be if humankind is able to rid itself of hate, envy, anger and like negativities and rise towards peace and harmony for all.

I we could NEVER ignore the successes, advancements and incredible progress we have made, and continue to make!
a lot of things are in my opinion still based on the old becoming new, bigger, better more advanced.
it is like the telephone and electicity...we have learned from it, to work with it! to create advances, often our pasts dictates where or how these advances are coming from...
Will we reinvent the wheel...I don't know, will we advance on the wheel? make it bigger, better, smaller faster? who knows?
we are creating jobs and teaching and training people for jobs which don't even exist! might not make sense to some...
regarding John's post;
I consistently read a variety of magazines from scientic journals on health to what we are learning about the cosmos and all i can say is that the next 20 years will surely be ones of awe and spleandour!
I, karin, couldn't agree more!
I too read this type of information as this is all of great interest to me...it does make one think and wonder about what is next to come, and what the next 100 years will look like!
too bad on won't be here to see it, however, you never know advancement may find a way of keeping me here! lol

At a family gathering this summer we were talking about many of these things. Age range was My Aunt at 94, Mom at 87 both as sharp as ever both physically and mentally and down to the Great great grandson! 5 generations - amazing what the older ones have seen in thier lifetime, but as they said it is even more amazing what the "kids" see in a week!!

deer Karin Hiebert
I read your comments,it was amusing,I liked it much,I agree with some of your ideas about the past, but we can not ignore all the success took place in these 100 years.
maybe we have bothered ourselves in so many ways, but after all we can't avoid going forward!

I can't imagine what their life had been. We are indeed very lucky to be living today with the latest progress and technology at hand. And still our life has become better and better everyday thru science and technology.
