More tools and techniques for getting what you want in life

Double Your Income Doing What You LoveI will forever be a student of goal achievement – I am just fascinated by the art and science of how to get things done, particularly those soul-stirring things you hold as your deepest desires in life.

That’s why I’m pleased to be able to pass along a free resource from my good friend Raymond Aaron. Raymond has committed himself to teaching people how to set and achieve goals and dramatically change their lives for the better – and he’s good at it.

Seriously, he’s developed some amazingly innovative, step-by-step techniques over the past two decades, all aimed at helping people take more conscious control of their immediate environments.

From Raymond’s perspective, you don’t have to struggle to get what you want in life – and that’s something I totally agree with. Why reinvent the wheel? Raymond has spent many years developing, refining and testing his techniques, and he has agreed to share two chapters of his new book, “Double Your Income Doing What You Love” with readers of my blog.

In “Double Your Income Doing What You Love” you’ll discover:

And a lot more. You can download your two free chapters of Raymond’s new book here. Do it now!

This sounds like a great book: Delegate to others the work that’s their bliss, while freeing up your time to work within your own bliss.

The practice of this principle has been a challenge for me over the years. I found I was in the habit of doing things I did not really like or want to be doing–with jobs I did not like and relationships that did not work.

The “work” of changing this habit for me stemmed back to my childhood and family of origin. As a growing child, I was in situation that was unpleasant and difficult; I did not want it to be that way.

As an adult, this way of life was a hard habit to shake; I found myself replicating the conditions of my childhood again and again, until I changed my habits of thinking, feeling and doing; and made different choices, choices in favor of my own special bliss.

Having It All: how passion makes the difference

When we launched the Having It All Challenge last August, the goal was to create a community of like-minded individuals who would support each other in positively transforming their lives.

Five months later we are seeing the results, and all I can says is “Wow!” Through our exclusive webinars, online forums, group coaching, and our upcoming live event, Having It All members have first dared to express their dreams — and then they have actually gone out and made those dreams come true.

Among the many success stories in the Having It All Challenge, here’s one I’d like to share with you. In October I received an e-mail from Sean Simpson, a young man who was part of the Challenge. Sean had recently moved from Los Angeles to San Diego, and he wanted to know if we had any positions available at OneCoach, the business-growth services company I founded with my friend Murray Smith.

Now, OneCoach is not an employment agency and we don’t have jobs for everyone. But we are a startup, and at any startup there’s lots to do. And when someone with energy and ambition shows up, well, let’s just say that fortune favors the brave. So we found a position for Sean, and he has embraced the opportunity. He is soaking up all the knowledge he can, with the kind of passion and dedication that I admire.

You can see some of Sean’s passion here, in a video he produced for a competition he has entered. Take a look, and join me in applauding Sean’s enthusiasm, his drive, and his vision. Way to go Sean!

The Journey of Steve Jobs

I always find the lives of highly successful people very inspiring, such as Steve Jobs, founder of Apple.

His story is a great example of passion and skills in big business, innovation, professional pitfalls and rebounds, belief in self, intense inner-drive,  and staying true to his vision.

Watch this video documentary, then take a moment to ask yourself how he managed to stay so positive.

See me on The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch

Donny Deutsch has built his whole “the Big Idea” show around the question of why some people succeed while other don’t – a topic I know something about – so it was only a matter of time before I got invited on.

In fact I’m in New York right now and I’ll make a brief appearance on the show tonight, Jan. 14. That’s The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch on CNBC at 7 and 10 p.m. Pacific, 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. Eastern.

Be sure to tune in or record it. I’ll be talking about the mindset of multimillionaires, and here’s a head-up: I’ll be pointing viewers to OneCoach.com, where you’ll be able to download some complimentary resources that will really give your business a boost in 2008.

To your best year yet!

Happy For No Reason

I nearly drove into the ditch when I heard on the radio that people who are happy earn $750,000+ more in their lifetime than others. That’s a lot — 3/4 of a million.

More than 255 studies show that money doesn’t buy happiness. Studies say it is the other way around: Happiness buys money.

The radio didn’t even address the fact that happy people are more fulfilled, relaxed, and peaceful …that they naturally get lower prices, more opportunities, better care, more friends, greater intimacy, and so on.

You might think, “I would be happy too if I had more intimacy (or that car, that raise, that home…),” but it is the other way around. If you’re happy first, everything will come. High wages. Great relationships. Better sex. Career advancements. Customers. Great deals. Contentment in your home. All naturally, with little effort, which will make you happier still. “Happiness runs in a circular motion.”

Happy For No Reason book coverA dear friend just released a fabulous new book, “Happy for No Reason,” that’s already getting huge acclaim. This is a breakthrough book — not a Pollyannaish book — that shows you how to raise your baseline of happiness.

This means that no matter what happens at work — no matter what stress plows into you — no matter how dire the circumstances — you will AUTOMATICALLY return to a higher level of happiness than you have today. Imagine, you don’t have to get richer, thinner, or smarter to be happier.

That’s huge. That’s why after I read the first chapter, I exclaimed, “Holy cow! This will change the world.”

This book should be on every desk… in every office… every school… every nightstand. It should be in the hands of everyone you know.

You see… author Marci Shimoff has broken the code on happiness. All we’ve ever really wanted in life is to be happy. And Marci’s book shows you how. She gives you a clear, 7-step program that’s effective and fast. It works from the inside, out.

Get started on this book today, and you’ll receive additional resources to make sure you raise your happiness set-point and not just read about it.

Truth is emerging: Being happy IS how to have it all. It used to be that if we couldn’t have it all, we would at least want happiness. We now know that if you have happiness, everything else can flow to you. Order Marci’s new book today, and then claim the special bonuses and resources.

I agree. And that’s why I love the last sentence you said on Bill’s Interview. “life is about loving and being grateful.”

I’ve researched a lot of successful people and most of the time you hear them say it’s never been about the money.

My friend told me that Napoleon Hill actually lost all his money in the stock market and was mad for only 5 minutes. 5 minutes. He just said “well, it’s only money, I’ll make it again.”

  6. KieranNo Gravatar says:

For far too long, many of us have embraced the notion that when we (eventually) have money, we WILL be happy: I certainly fall into that category.

However, with life experience comes enlightenment (generally, provided we open our minds and our hearts to great ideas, where we are unafraid to embrace new ideology and embark on a new and exciting journey of enrichment).

Happiness is a state of mind and it’s only when we are fulfilled in this most prominent area of our life, we embrace all the positive aspects of existence, which help us to attract into our sphere, the wonderful things the Universe so generously gives us. Money and general abundance are of course two of those components.

I currently coach many very wealthy people who came to me, in a state of serious unhappiness about their lives and the direction in which they were traveling: I began by reminding them that life is a journey, on which like any road trip, it’s dangerous to embark unless you’re fully prepared. The health and general well-being of these individuals was suffering and their family lives were in general tatters. I’ve spent time with them, coaching them about the wonderful aspects of life – their lives – which have the capacity to turn their attitudes around and give them genuine and absolute fulfillment.

Joy, love, honesty, respect, understanding, compassion, tenderness, openness, commitment, self-respect and gratitude are just some of the ‘success forming elements’ which add depth, colour and HAPPINESS to one’s life: Where there is happiness, there is contentment, growth and prosperity.

    Enjoy life.

    Kieran

  7. Zac WoodNo Gravatar says:

I absolutely agree. You must have a well balance in all areas of life to be happy. Money alone will not make you happy.

  8. ValenciaNo Gravatar says:

A favorite motto of mine is ‘Happiness is an ‘inside job’. I realized a long time ago that external circumstances cannot make me happy. While I used to believe that by force of will I could go after my goals and create my happiness via achieving degrees and things, it did not take me long to realize that the inner feelings of dis-satisfaction were only increasing with time. In looking back I now realize that the Law of Attraction was at work, in that, in the present moment, I was vibrating uneasiness and I was not really happy so I just kept attracting more inner ‘dis-ease’. Fortunately, I woke up before the DISEASE manifested in my physical body!

    Life IS Good!

In my 56 years of huge successes (and a few losses) I have never seen anyone so ‘on target’ with the exact information to ‘win big’ in life as John in the book ‘Having It All’ – BUY IT! And, if John recommends something… take heed! This man is a master teacher… God Bless you John! Smiles and best wishes, Bill

  11. Mercy AlmquistNo Gravatar says:

I have seen this be the case in my life. The happier I was, the more positive things showed up. The less appreciation and positive thoughts I have, the more negative things showed up, in every aspect of my life. Like people say: When it rain it pours..now we see why.
Thanks John for making us more aware of how to tap into the right frequency!

  12. Gail DoucetNo Gravatar says:

Mark Hankins talked about this this morning show #3553

Our Bible tell us that we are what WE THINK, we will have what we say, Mark 11:23 24. This is Jesus talking and I know he would not lie to me!!!!!! He says to talk right to the problem itself..

23″I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

The secret is based on this scripture, so we have our answer , we control our world

so I guess our job is to get our mouth open and start talking our life, I am happy and safe and loved and happy and safe and loved . I can say this all day, if I want and I want too.

  13. EDGAR S. RULONANo Gravatar says:

Yes I agree with your blog. I’ve experienced it myself. But happiness will not be experienced if your nervous system is overstressed. We just have to purify ourselves from stress and this was accomplished when I started to practice Maharishi’s Technology of the Unified Field, that is Transcendental Meditation and TM Siddhi Program just like our great Physicist Mr. JOHN HAGELIN.

Throw out your New Year’s resolutions

New Years resolutions are a total waste of time for most people. Why? Because they are not backed by the right mental preparation and conditioning.

How many years have you been making resolutions only to find that within two or three weeks you’ve given up?

Relying upon will power, resolve and persistence is absolutely the worst way to achieve your new goals. These things are controlled by your conscious mind, which is responsible for only about 2-4 percent of your day-to-day actions and perceptions.

Due to your habits, you’ve become conditioned to stay at the same weight, income or in the same mediocre relationship. An internal financial or weight “set point” is conditioned deep in your subconscious brain so that you don’t have to think about the day-to-day activities you need to do to maintain it.

If you think about lottery winners, why is it that within two or three years, 86 percent lose all their money? It’s because they are conditioned to be without money. Their do not change their subconscious set point of how much money they should have, therefore they revert to that point.

Once any image, habit or belief is ingrained in your subconscious brain, you automatically seek out situations and behave in ways that resonate with that “internal image.” If you currently don’t like the results you are witnessing with your weight, job, income or relationships, then you must break the old patterns and old conditioning that’s causing them.

Breaking subconscious patterns has been proven by NASA to take at least 30-60 days of brain retraining.

If you do not “re-train” your subconscious brain at the same time you make the decision to lose weight or make more money, for example, you will within very short order return back to your old weight and income patterns and in most cases gain even more weight back– and that’s why, despite the best intentions, the vast majority of New Year’s resolutions are not kept..

There is a “cybernetic trigger” in your brain. It detects any change from your current situation, no matter what is, and it overrides your will power and forces you to behave in accordance with your old habits. Hence, the same results repeat themselves because of the same thought patterns and behavioral patterns. It works exactly like the thermostat in your home that automatically picks up any change in room temperature and then makes corrections to return things to “normal.”

This automatic “trigger” causes you to rationalize why you’re not sticking with your diet or new income plan and basically forces you to revert back to your habits and patterns.

Break the word “rationalize” in two and you get “rational-lies.” The internal self-talk you catch yourself doing is automatic and a result of the system doing its job to keep you at your “comfort zone,” even though it’s not what you want.

Your income or body is only an expression of the internal image you have at a deep-rooted level. If you want to see permanent changes on the outside, you must retrain the mental image on the inside first.

If you truly want to make permanent changes in your life, it takes about 15 minutes a day of mental retraining for 30-60 days. The more you do this, the faster you’ll see results. The good news is that you can’t get a brain hernia if you overdo it.

If you are serious about living the life you want and deserve, why not join the thousands that have already discovered the most advanced system for permanent financial and life success?

If you are interested in your success, you’ll do what’s convenient. If on the other hand you are committed to your success, you’ll do what it takes.

And have your best year yet in 2008!

I love how you break “rational-lies” down! For those of us who have worn being rational like a ‘badge of logic’, it’s a great reminder that it’s also a way we can make excuses for ourselves.

I highly recommend all of John’s work to anyone who may be on the fence about buying a product or joining a program. It’s changed my life! :)

    Hey John,

I personally think that the more time you put into it, the better. I spend more than 15 minutes visualizing, affirming, figuring out my goals.

I say my affirmations all the time. I constantly look at my vision board.

I wanted to get your opinion on if this would be better or worse than the 15 min/day.

We could begin an entire debate about the reality of the subsconcious mind or ‘unconscious’ as it is known to some and never settle on the ‘true’ reality of this phenomenon. Personally, I believe that both conscious intention and relaxed access to the deeper mind that automates and runs all things to do with our bodies is a wiser approach than an either/or approach because if something is unconscious or subsconcious, it is not known to us and we can only guess from the manifestations in the external world and our behaviours that something is causing it at a level of non-awareness. Given that awareness is the key to change, we first need to become aware (conscious) that something needs to change and then consciously decide to repeat new behaviours and thought patterns on a regular and systematic basis until we have entrained the new behaviours and thought patterns. Some say this takes 28 days and I guess that 60 will more or less guarantee the new patterns. Change though, happens in an instant – the moment we decide to change, it begins – the continuity of that change is very dependant on a conscious daily decision to re-enforce that change and a complete commitment to our decision to change. For that we need sufficient reasons to continue. So as much as I love your work John, in this case I agree to a certain extent and beg to differ (based on vast experience over many years of working with people) about relying only on a subsconcious retraining as the method of change. The subsconscious is likened to a little puppy trying to please the conscious (captain of the ship)so we still need the conscious mind’s help. Respect Kathy

    Hey John,
You have no idea how you changed my life.
I’ve been in a seminar of your 2 weeks ago in Israel, and since then I carry around 3 notebooks: 1 for my beautiful girlfriend and our amazing relationship, 1 for my awsome 16 friends and 1 for my ability to consistenly do visualization, positive affirmitation and meditation for 2 hours every day.
I’m been reading each of my notebooks 3 times every day for the last 2 weeks and I’m already starting to feel the diffrent. I’m waiting patiencly for 30-60 days until the magic will begin…

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much, John. You have no idea, NO IDEA how much you helped me with my life.

    Thanks you.
    With appriciation and love,
    Eyal

I agree with the importance of visualization but there is that subtle dynamic of letting go that makes it come around. So what we have to do is visualize and create triggers that affirm yet we have to be in a state of detachment. This is from my experience essential. I am an artist and have had to rely on the power of manifestation for years. I have to thank you John for expanding the possibilities even more.

Thanks John for addressing the all important issue of mindset in changing ones’ life. I think that a major issue for many people is that they are very clear and emotional about what they DON”T want, but they are fuzzy and unclear about what they really DO want. Obviously, the conscious mind has to choose but a major missing ingredient is the lack of excitement or emotion to wrap around the new goal. As long as one is unclear and ‘feel’ that the new goal is improbable and ‘feel’ unhappy about their present circumstances,
it will be difficult to re-wire the subconscious which responds to emotion and not intellect. Feelings are a HUGH key!
